When we noticed that one of IKEA’s plush toys, an unassuming stuffed shark named BLÅHAJ, had been adopted by the Trans community as an unofficial symbol of support, we decided to make the connection official by creating a limited run of BLÅHAJ stuffies in the colours of the Trans flag.
Each one-of-a-kind BEYOU BLÅHAJ was handmade with sustainably-sourced materials, with the recipient’s chosen name embroidered on the fin.
Our small run of stuffed sharks was so popular, the community started a petition for IKEA to make BEYOU BLÅHAJ a permanent product.
Others created stickers and sewing patterns so anyone could make their own at home.
BEYOU BLÅHAJ was even immortalized in tattoo form.
